Singapore-based short-form video platform Viddsee, which has generated three billion views over the past decade with work by 5,000 creators, is moving into long-form scripted projects and micro dramas and has unveiled its first slate.

“Our goal is to create compelling stories that resonate across cultures and continents, leveraging our unique strengths in content creation and storytelling,” said Viddsee Founder and CEO Ho Jia Jian, describing into long format content as a significant milestone in the platform’s evolution.

Topping the inaugural long-format slate is Ivy Boys an action detective series set against the backdrop of WWII-era Korea about a group of fashionable tailors who secretly work as sleuths behind the scenes.

The project is currently in co-development with CJ ENM Hong Kong, the regional office of South Korea’s leading entertainment company CJ ENM.

The story has been developed from Web3 concepts generated by BBRC Studios, an arts, fashion and culture incubator aimed at generating NFT projects.

Korean director and producer Paek Seung Hwan, whose past projects include like Inside Men and KUNDO: Age of the Rampant and Double Patty is spearheading the project.

“We’re excited to collaborate on Ivy Boys and bring together our legacy of creating impactful storytelling with a fresh and innovative narrative approach,” said Michael Jung, MD of CJ ENM Hong Kong.

Further projects include the working titled Fallen Butterflies, adapted from Sylvia Yu Friedman’s book ‘A Long Road To Justice’, tackling sex trafficking of women and modern slavery in Asia through a Korean-American lens.

Chinese-U.S. producer Lillian Victoria Ng is attached alongside award-winning writer Galen Tong, whose credits include writing for the TV series Walker, Texas Ranger. Script consultants Gina Gold and Aurorae Khoo, Co-Executive Producers on CBS show NCIS.

The line-up also includes innovative Indonesian feature film Siti Vampire (Siti Sang Vampir!), adapted from a successful local five-episode comedy series with the same name in Singapore.

The film will offer a unique twist on the vampire genre by introducing a young female Muslim vampire. Indonesian screenwriter Titien Wattimena, whose writing credits include Aruna dan Lidahnya and award-winning box office hit Dilan 1990, is is attached.

Story and script development is currently underway with leading Indonesian creative agency Katatinut.

In addition to these longer format projects, Viddsee is producing its first slate of micro drama Originals, with productions underway in Thailand, Singapore, and Taipei. The first micro drama on this slate, My Magic Tablet, is set to premiere this November.

“Our expansion into both long-form and micro drama content not only highlights our commitment to innovation but also invites potential investors to explore opportunities within the rapidly growing digital video and streaming space,” said Ho Jia Jian.
