Savannah Guthrie channels Elle Woods with a ‘Legally Blonde’ special guest star for TODAY Halloween

The TODAY anchors brought some major movie nostalgia to this year’s TODAY Show Halloween extravaganza.

On Oct. 31, the TODAY anchors dressed up in their best costumes to pay homage to iconic films from the past. Like past years, the TODAY team picked a special theme for their Halloween getups and this year the theme was “VHS Rewind.” 

On the show, Savannah Guthrie surprised fans by dressing up as Elle Woods from “Legally Blonde.” The TODAY co-anchor pulled off the look by wearing a curly blonde wig and an all-pink outfit that resembled the studious attorney. Savannah even had a stuffed chihuahua that looked exactly like Elle’s beloved dog, Bruiser Woods, from the film.

The other TODAY co-anchors got in on the fun too. In honor of “VHS Rewind,” Al Roker went as Beetlejuice, Craig Melvin went as Ron Burgundy from “Anchorman,” Sheinelle Jones went as Beyonce’s character Foxxy Cleopatra from “Austin Powers in Goldmember” and more.

In years past, the TODAY talent have worn some incredible costumes for Halloween. In 2019, Carson Daly and Savannah Guthrie dressed up as Danny and Sandy from “Grease,” then in 2022, Willow Geist wore an amazing Elvis Presley costume. That year, the theme was “Las Vegas.”

In 2023, the theme was Kellyoke in honor of “The Kelly Clarkson Show’s” big move to New York.”
