‘The Talk’ Sets Finale Date After 15 Seasons On CBS

The Talk‘s 15-season run will come to an end with a final stretch of live shows the week of Dec. 16, leading to the Dec. 20 series finale. It is unclear whether any of The Talk‘s previous hosts, including show creator Sara Gilbert, would return for the farewell, with CBS only teasing that current hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood will be “welcoming an array of guests” during their last week, along with big holiday giveaways.

The Talk was expected to end next month; CBS announced back in April that the show was being renewed for a 15th and final season that would wrap in December. The Talk‘s time period, 2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, will be taken over by new daytime soap Beyond the Gates, which is set to premiere Feb. 24. (CBS has not specified whether The Talk reruns will continue to air in the time period in the interim.)

The Talk, which airs on CBS and streams on Paramount+, debuted on Oct. 18, 2010, as part of the network’s daytime programming block. Originally considered CBS’ response to ABC’s The View, The Talk evolved over the years, including introducing a co-ed panel.

But it is expensive to mount, which, combined with the show’s modest ratings and CBS’ plan to launch Beyond the Gates, led to the decision to end The Talk‘s run.

The show features a panel of entertainment personalities discussing current events, pop culture, family, celebrity and trending topics of the day. Rob Crabbe is executive producer and showrunner with Ianthe Jones serving as co-executive producer. The Tals has earned 14 Daytime Emmy Awards (Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment in 2016 and 2018; writing in 2015; host in 2017) and 58 nominations. The show also won the People’s Choice Award (2016) for Daytime TV Hosting Team and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Talk Series (2016). Here are some more stats:
