John Reardon, an actor from the Hallmark Channel and the star of the Canadian police procedural drama Hudson & Rex, has revealed he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer.

Reardon shared two photos in a social media post, including one in which the actor is seen in a hospital with his eyes closed.

“Last night was my first night out after my recovery from tonsil cancer. Has been a long road between these two pictures and the difference is from the love and support I received from my people in my life,” he posted on Instagram sharing his gratitude to everyone that has been by his side. “My amazing partner @officialmeghanory for taking on our whole world to help me get better. My brave kids who inspired me.”

He continued, “My Dad who took me for a walk everyday even when it was hard for me to get out of bed – and I’m sure hard for him to see his son in pain. My Mom @ocean__cottage who made me soups and ginger honey tea and green juices so I could get calories into my body. My sister and brother @dr_laura_reardon @marcreardon81 who helped with the kids and the challenges of life when I couldn’t.”

Reardon also thanks his in-laws “who brought food and cookies and talked through challenges with us,” as well as their nanny, neighbors, and “everyone who sent food or love and support or messages and kind words.”

The actor also noted his gratitude for “all the amazing doctors, nurses, technicians, hospital workers, psychologists you are all my heroes and I thank you from the bottom of my heart,” adding, “Kindness is an under appreciated quality in people. We should never under value it. Celebrate it and distribute it as much as possible. It is free and life changing. Happy Holidays.”

Reardon’s most recent Hallmark Channel movie was Believe in Christmas, which premiered earlier this year and in which he starred opposite his wife Meghan Ory. His other Hallmark TV movie credits include The Christmas Secret and I’ll Be Home for Christmas.

The Canadian actor is the star of Citytv’s Hudson & Rex since 2019. In the procedural drama, Reardon plays Detective Charlie Hudson, who is partnered with Rex, a German Shepherd dog. The series’ seventh season was confirmed in June and is expected to premiere in 2025.
