Christmas is over, which means Santa’s elves have some free time on their hands.

Will Ferrell caused a bit of a stir Dec. 29 when he attended the Philadelphia Flyers-Los Angeles Kings game in Los Angeles while dressed as Buddy the Elf from his hit 2003 movie “Elf.”

Ferrell didn’t appear quite as wholesome as his alter ego was in the movie, though. The actor sported what appeared to be a cigarette in his mouth and had a drink that may or may not have had alcohol in it. He also looked a bit grizzled, perhaps from all the work he just wrapped up working as Santa’s helper.

The Kings even shared a video of Ferrell.

“BUDDY THE ELF IS OFFICIALLY IN #HOCKEYWOOD,” the team captioned its post on X.

Ferrell is no stranger to embracing his most beloved characters, having gotten dressed as Ron Burgundy from “Anchorman” on multiple occasions and multiple shows, including on TODAY. His presence at the Kings game was a gift for fans who were amused at the sight of a rundown looking Ferrell.

“so can we talk about will ferrell dressed as buddy the elf at the flyers-kings game cause LMAO,” one person commented.

“At the Kings game and this guy is a TREASURE,” someone else captioned a picture of Ferrell with a cigarette dangling from his mouth.

“Will Ferrell rocks,” another person wrote.

“Will Ferrell showing up as Buddy the Elf is exactly the energy we need in hockey spreading Christmas cheer and fear-checking opponents into the boards,” someone else joked.

Ferrell may have been a good luck charm for the Kings, too. The team rallied from a 4-2 deficit to win 5-4, the team’s seventh straight home victory.
