Kelly Clarkson reveals the stage name her son gave himself on Grammys red carpet

Kelly Clarkson’s son is getting used to being in show business.
The Grammy winner took son Remington, 8, whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, to the Grammys Awards this year where he surprised his mother when someone asked for his name.
“This was the most amazing thing,” she said in a video on YouTube for her talk show. “We’re on the red carpet, and this woman looks at him and goes, ‘And what would you like your name to be?’ For the carpet. ‘What was your name?’”
The original “American Idol” winner, who also has daughter River, 10, with Blackstock, said her son was taken in by the way the question was phrased.
“How she said it, I think he heard, ‘What’s your stage name?’ She didn’t say that,” she said. “But all of a sudden, I was about to say ‘Remington Blackstock,’ and he said, ‘Remington Alexander.’ I was like, ‘Oh, we’re going by our first and middle name. OK.’ And he let me know that day that that’s what he wanted to go by for his stage name, I guess. I don’t know. It was really cute. But, anyway, he was adorable. It was so much fun.”
Remington also made waves when he warmed up the audience on his mother’s show by performing Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” which generated a lot of views online. Clarkson said her son is pretty proud of that.
“He threw some shade at me, too, when I told him,” she said. “I was like, ‘Man, your video, just by the way, people like what you did.’ And he was like, ‘Oh, do you get that many people to (watch)?’ And I (was like), ‘Calm down.’ He totally played me a little bit on that. That was pretty funny.”
The “Since U Been Gone” singer will have a break from her kids on New Year’s Eve, as she will usher in 2025 at her ranch in Montana.
“I am actually not going to have my kiddos. So it’s an adult swim only, and I’m going to be at my ranch and having a good time with my sister and my family,” she said.
Clarkson, who had another winning year by earning a Grammy nomination and entertaining millions of fans on her show, touted a trip to Norway as a highlight of 2024. As she looks forward to a new year, she is eyeing new adventures with her children as a bucket list item for herself.
“I’m going to let them pick somewhere in the world that we get to go as a family and really delve into the culture and go for like a week because I think that’s a really good education. And if I can afford it, that’s a really cool thing to do for them,” she said.
Clarkson was also asked about the thing she’s most excited to reveal in 2025, which led to a rather coy response.
“There are so many things in 2025 that I’m very excited about. One I am pretty excited about,” she said, without giving any specifics.
“There’s just certain things you miss in life, you know?” she added with a big smile, again without providing any information.
