Naomi Osaka announces split from Cordae

Naomi Osaka and her boyfriend, rapper Cordae, have parted ways after several years of dating.
The four-time Grand Slam singles winner, 27, announced the news Jan. 6 in a brief message in her Instagram stories.
“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship. No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad. Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together,” Osaka wrote, adding a heart emoji.
Osaka, who made headlines in 2021 when she took a hiatus from tennis to focus on her mental health, announced on Instagram in July 2023 that she had welcomed her daughter, Shai.
“Well that was a cool little intermission, now back to your regularly scheduled program,” Osaka joked alongside a pic of the newborn that obscured the baby’s face.

She also included a pic that showed her baring her baby bump and another that showed her lying in a hospital bed.
Osaka’s birth announcement came days after Cordae revealed their baby’s name during a live concert performance.
“My daughter Shai was born just a few days ago,” he could be seen telling a concert crowd in a video tweeted by a fan. The rapper added that he was dedicating his performance to “my baby girl Shai.”
Over the years, Cordae had been spotted in the stands at some of Osaka’s matches, including her September 2020 U.S. Open win against Victoria Azarenka. In a video tweeted by ESPNW at the time, the rapper jumped up and thumped his chest in celebration after Osaka scored her final point against her opponent.
