Securing the 2025 Golden Globe for best performance by a male actor in a supporting role in any motion picture on Jan. 5, Culkin stars alongside the film’s director and writer Jessie Eisenberg.
Culkin and Eisenberg play Benji and David Kaplan, two cousins on a trip to Poland to honor their grandmother.
While accepting his award, the actor received laughs after explaining that he and his wife Jazz Charton took a shot of tequila with Mario Lopez earlier that evening.
“Definitely feeling that; whole speech is gone,” Culkin said during his acceptance speech to collective laughter from the audience. “Rip it, Kieran. You’re doing fine.”
Culkin gave props to his screen partner and fellow nominee in his speech.
“I’m here because Jessie Eisenberg wrote an incredible script,” Culkin continued. “He’s a fantastic director and screen partner so anybody that has an opportunity to work with him in any category, just leap at it.”

The film received three other nominations at the 2025 Golden Globes, including best motion picture (musical or comedy), and two nominations for Eisenberg — best screenplay and best actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy).
“A Real Pain” has received additional praise beyond the Golden Globes, including the 2024 Sundance Film Festival Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award win for Eisenberg.
According to IMDB, the win is Culkin’s second Golden Globe in the last two years and his sixth lifetime nomination. In 2024, the actor won the Golden Globe award for best performance by a male actor television drama for his portrayal of Roman Roy in “Succession.”
