Beyoncé postpones announcement due to California wildfires: ‘I continue to pray for healing’
Beyoncé is saving her news for another day.
On Instagram, Beyoncé announced that she’ll be postponing her Jan. 14 announcement “due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles.”
“I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss,” she said. “We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community.”
Then Beyoncé directed her fans to her charity foundation BeyGOOD, which helps to uplift communities.
“The BeyGOOD LA Fire Relief Fund has donated $2.5 million to directly support families who lost their homes and community organizations at the forefront of relief,” she wrote in the caption. “Please join us in supporting with whatever you can.”
She signed the note, “Love, B.”
On Christmas, Beyoncé teased that she was going to announce something special on Jan. 14 when she shared a video of herself waving the American flag while sitting atop a white horse. The clip was similar to her cover art for her eighth studio album, “Cowboy Carter.”
At the end of the video, a red text showed up on a black screen that simply read “1.14.25.”
In the comments, fans said that they were excited to see what Bey had to say, especially after they enjoyed her NFL halftime show during the Ravens-Texans matchup on Christmas, in which she performed “Cowboy Carter” songs live for the first time.
“Omggg what does this meann girl lemme get my coins ready!!!!” one fan commented on the post.
Another posted several bee emojis to reference the singer’s fan base, known as the BeyHive.
“Who is here waiting impatiently, refreshing continously, anxiety through the roof, excitement uncontrollable and everything in between,” another said.
Beyoncé delayed the announcement despite the anticipation.
According to NBCNews, the California wildfires have already destroyed hundreds of homes and killed “at least 24 people.”
During a press conference, a city official in Los Angeles described the fires as “devastating” and “terrifying. ”
