Dear White People star DeRon Horton revealed he was shot before the holiday season and is now on the mend outside of the hospital.

Horton, who was last seen in Apple TV+’s The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, shared the shocking news in an Instagram post prior to the weekend, detailing his injuries in a series of photos featuring him in a hospital gown, as well as various pictures of his gruesome arm injury, subsequent stitches and an X-Ray.

“First off. I wanna give an honor to God for covering me and protecting me to make it out this situation and countless other ones,” he wrote in the post. “Everybody that checked on me n holla’d at me specially my family n friends I love yall, Thank you. Horton, whose TV credits also include American Horror Story and American Vandal, said the incident took place when an assailant shot at his car, the aftermath of which he included in his compilation of photos. The bullet pierced his arm and “shattered it,” but the actor said he feels “blessed” to not be “in a casket or paralyzed.”
