US vice-president J.D. Vance has engaged in a theological battle of words with UK former politician turned podcaster Rory Stewart, with the American ultimately claiming the Brit has a low IQ.

Stewart, who co-hosts the hit podcast The Rest is Politics with Tony Blair’s former aide Alistair Campbell, had taken issue with an interview Vance conducted with Fox News, in which the VP referred to “old school Christian values”: He said: “There is a Christian concept that you love your family and then you love your neighbor, and then you love your community, and then you love your fellow citizens, and then after that, prioritize the rest of the world A lot of the far left has completely inverted that.”

Stewart responded on X that these comments represented “a bizarre take on John 15:12-13 – less Christian and more pagan tribal. We should start worrying when politicians become theologians, assume to speak for Jesus, and tell us in which order to love…”

Such a reply caught Vance’s attention, who promptly responded:

“I’ve said before and I’ll say it again: the problem with Rory and people like him is that he has an IQ of 110 and thinks he has an IQ of 130.  This false arrogance drives so much elite failure over the last 40 years.”

Unsurprisingly, the war of words has seen supporters of both men weigh in, including Stewart wondering aloud if this is the vice-president challenging him to some sort of IQ battle, a contest he seems prepared to participate in, if Vance will name the time and place.
