The Jonas Brothers might want to word their letters a little differently from here on out.

They accidentally caused panic among their fans when they shared a lengthy letter on Instagram Feb. 12 about their plans for the future. In honor of their 20th anniversary, they said they will release a number of exciting projects this year, such as new Jonas Brothers music and solo music, a soundtrack and a live concert album.

Although that sounded good, many fans immediately started to panic once they read the beginning of the letter, which thanked them for their support over the years.

“You’ve given us a thousand lifetimes of incredible memories. We wake up each day filled with gratitude that you’ve been on this 20-year journey with us,” the group said. “Together, we have celebrated wins, made mistakes, overcome obstacles and grieved losses. Put simply: we’ve all grown up together.”

The Jonas Brothers then talked about some more memorable moments that they had with one another before getting into the nitty-gritty of the letter, which was their upcoming projects.

Based on how the letter was worded, many people thought that the group was breaking up again.

“Guys not the jumpscare,” read one comment.

Another said, “At first glance i thought this was a breakup announcement.”

A third wrote, “It was giving break up letter… nearly gave me a heart attack…”

A fourth added, “We are all traumatized,” followed by a crying-laughing emoji.

After releasing their first album, “It’s About Time,” in 2006, the group found much success — including a 2009 Grammy nomination for best new artist — before they announced they were breaking up in 2013. The brothers ultimately got back together in 2019 when they released their fifth studio album, “Happiness Begins.”

After posting their letter online, the Jonas Brothers also shared a video on Instagram that celebrated their 20th anniversary.

“20 years ago, the world looked a lot different — our cars, our clothes, our communication and even our hair. The past 20 years have been one wild ride. We’ve had highs and lows and all the moments in between,” they said. “We’ve loved, we’ve danced, we’ve chased dreams, faced heartbreaks and celebrated wins. We’ve grown up together, the world changed and so did we.

“Along the way, we’ve learned the most important lesson of all: to cherish every moment,” they continued. “That is the power of music. It unites us. It heals us. It inspires us and it motivates us. Music brings back memories and creates new ones. It’s generational. It reminds us where we came from and where we’re going. So here’s to 20 years of life, to road trips, to friendships, to love, the moments that have changed us and the ones we’ll never forget.”
