DK Metcalf reveals he and Normani are engaged: ‘Hold that rock up, baby’
DeKaylin “DK” Metcalf and Normani revealed some exciting news.
When the NFL star announced his trade from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers on March 13, he also let it slip that he and the singer took their relationship to the next level.
During a press conference about the next step in his career, Metcalf revealed that he and Normani are engaged — and even told her to show off her ring.
“Hold that rock up, baby,” a smiling Metcalf said to Normani, who was off to the side, before elaborating on the proposal.
“My family and her family was in Houston. It was my sister’s spring break and just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with the ring,” the wide receiver told reporters.
He also shared how the proposal went down, saying, “I started sending her flowers with a story and then the last letter on the flower was ‘Will you marry?’ And she said yes.”
Before revealing their engagement, in a video about his trade, Metcalf called Normani his “beautiful fiancée” while thanking her for her support.
The pair were first linked in 2022 before making their relationship Instagram official a year later. Metcalf and Normani have maintained a private relationship, only sharing snippets on their social media.
In the March 13 press conference, Metcalf shared that former Seattle Seahawk Russell Wilson and Ciara introduced him and Normani.
“We hit it off from day one and here we are,” he said, also noting that he had wanted to propose to Normani since last year.
“But she’s a singer and, you know, her work kind of conflict with the schedule,” he said, adding he wanted to “take an approach to where a schedule couldn’t matter.”
