A new documentary focusing on the Carter family features insights from the people who knew them best, including siblings Angel Carter Conrad and Nick Carter.

Told from the perspective of Aaron Carter’s twin sister, Angel Carter Conrad, director Soleil Moon Frye previously told TODAY.com in an interview that she was “blown away by her courageous heart” amid so much loss.

“She had so much light in her … she really was able to take so much pain and darkness and turn it into a sense of purpose and life,” Frye said.

“The Carters: Hurts to Love You,” the new documentary about Nick and Aaron Carter, will be airing exclusively on Paramount+.

What is the ‘The Carters: Hurts to Love You’ about?

“The Carters: Hurts to Love You” details the rise to fame of the two Carter family members and their ensuing tragedies.

Since 2012, three of the five Carter siblings have died: Leslie Carter at the age of 25 in 2012, Aaron Carter at the age of 34 in 2022 and Bobbie Jean Carter, who died in 2023 at the age of 41.

In the documentary, Carter Conrad discusses her parents’ own struggle with alcoholism, mental health issues and infidelity. The siblings’ father, Bob Carter, died at age 65 in 2023.

The documentary will also capture an interaction between Nick Carter and Angel Carter Conrad, an emotional conversation that is one of the first times the Backstreet Boys singer speaks about the death of his siblings and father.
