EXCLUSIVE: Alan Cumming reveals ‘The Traitors’ Season 3 premiere date
Alan Cumming has some information that fans would kill for.
The actor announced Oct. 31 on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna when “The Traitors” will return for a third season: Jan. 9 on Peacock. (Peacock is owned by TODAY.com’s parent company, NBCUniversal.)
He played it coy when asked to share what fans can expect this season.
“I’ll just say one word: brutal,” he said, while noting there was a moment he thought he would have to break up a fight.
The show will feature 21 celebrities, at least three of whom will be selected by Cumming to be a “Traitor,” while the rest will be “Faithfuls.” Fans will find out the identity of the “Traitors” in the season premiere.
“The Traitors” pits the two groups competing in missions to earn money for the group prize fund. In between missions, the “Faithfuls” try to determine the identity of the “Traitors” and vote to banish them at the Round Table, while the “Traitors” meet in secret each night to figure out which “Faithful” to “murder” and eliminate from the game. Every player is hoping to advance to the end of the game and win the cash prize.
“The Traitors” has been a hit since its first season dropped in January 2023. It has won three Emmy Awards, including earlier this year for outstanding reality competition program and outstanding host for a reality or reality competition program for Cumming.
Cumming himself is surprised by how popular the show is.
“I just thought it sounded like a fun idea and then all of a sudden, it’s this massive thing,” he said.
