EXCLUSIVE: Reba McEntire collaborates with Carole King on ‘Happy’s Place’ theme song — take a listen

Reba McEntire is showing off her amazing vocal prowess once again.
The “I’m a Survivor” singer has teamed up with renowned songwriter Carole King to write the theme song to her new NBC comedy, “Happy’s Place.”
On the Oct. 11 episode of TODAY, viewers got an exclusive preview of the song when it was aired exclusively on PopStart.
In the song, McEntire sings about the joys of “Happy’s Place,” a bar which her character inherits on the sitcom.
“Sometimes it feels like a big ole fight / To get through the day and sleep on through the night / You can’t complain ’cause no one’s there to hear it / But here you’ll find a place that’ll surely lift your spirits,” McEntire croons in high vibrato.
She continues, “Come on to Happy’s Place / You belong at Happy’s Place / Rest your heart and be apart / You’ll always feel so safe / Put a smile on someone else’s face / Right here at Happy’s Place.”
NBC also shared a behind-the-scenes look at McEntire making the song. In the video, you could see McEntire laying down her vocal tracks and conferring with her team on how the theme bop should sound.
“Ow! Very good!” she says in the studio after listening back to the recording.
After “a bunch of drums” are added to enhance the song, the Grammy Award winner appears to be pleased with the outcome.
“So that wraps it up!” she says while facing the camera. “We’ve got the theme song to the ‘Happy’s Place’ sitcom all done up and I hope everybody enjoys it as much as we enjoyed getting to sing it and play on it.”
In a press release, McEntire shared her thoughts about what it was like getting to work on the “Happy’s Place” theme song.
“I’m so happy for the opportunity to write the theme song for ‘Happy’s Place’ with my good friend, Carole King,” she said. “It just doesn’t get much better than that! I hope my fans will love this song as much as they did the theme song for the ‘Reba’ show.”

“Happy’s Place” stars McEntire as her character, Bobbie, who “inherits her father’s tavern (Happy’s Place) and is surprised to discover that she has a new business partner, Isabella, played by Belissa Escobedo, a twentysomething half-sister she never knew she had,” a synopsis for the show reads in a press release. The series also stars Melissa Peterman, who is known for playing Barbra Jean Booker Hart in “Reba,” Tokala Black Elk, who’s known for his work in “Yellowstone,” and more.
“Happy’s Place” is set to premiere on NBC on Friday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. ET and it will also be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
