‘Jeopardy!’ fans outraged over shady Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift relationship clue
Travis Kelce’s fans are coming to his defense after a “Jeopardy!” clue seemingly made fun of the reason why he’s famous.
It all started on the Wednesday, Nov. 6 episode of the show when contestants Adrienne Clermont, Derek Hieronymus and Greg Jolin were asked a specific question about the Kansas City Chiefs player, who is also Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.
In the $200 question under the category “The TV Show in Question,” the “Jeopardy!” clue read: “’Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’ is hosted by this man who’s maybe more famous as a BF than a 3-time Super Bowl champ.”
Without hesitation, Hieronymus hit his buzzer and answered the question correctly.
“Who is Travis Kelce?,” he said.
“Correct,” “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings replied.
Online, fans shared their outrage over the “shady” clue.
On X, one person reacted to the clue, writing, “Jeopardy was NASTY with travis kelce today.”
Another wrote, “Jeopardy with some Travis Kelce shade tonight.”
A third took to the official Instagram account of “Jeopardy!” and said, “Never thought I’d unfollow Jeopardy lmao, this is disgusting…”
A fourth added, “Yeah, this was unnecessarily nasty.”
In response to the backlash, “Jeopardy!” shared a picture of the clue on Instagram and wrote, “Sorry to this man 😆.”
Though Kelce was already famous for winning Super Bowls and acting as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, he’s become even more popular after he started dating Swift in 2023.
According to Forbes, his jersey sales spiked shortly after fans learned he was dating the “Blank Space” singer. Since his relationship with the pop star, Kelce has secured new opportunities that could be attributed to many things, including his team winning the 2024 Super Bowl.
Either way, Kelce is on a roll. In October, he starred in FX’s “Grotesquerie” and also made his debut as the host of “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?,” a game show which features adult contestants in a classroom of celebrities who help them answer elementary-level questions for chance to win a $100,000 prize.
