Kristin Cavallari breaks silence on ex-husband Jay Cutler’s DUI arrest
Kristin Cavallari is breaking her silence over ex Jay Cutler’s recent arrest on charges of driving under the influence and gun possession.
The former “Laguna Beach” star, who shares three kids with Cutler, addressed her ex-husband’s arrest during an Oct. 22 episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, telling listeners she hopes the former NFL quarterback “gets the help that he needs.”
“Really quickly, just before we get into the episode, I wanted to hop on here and just let you guys know that this episode was recorded right before a very public incident happened last week with my ex-husband,” Cavallari, 37, said, noting that she wouldn’t be commenting further about the incident.
“I do, of course, wish Jay nothing but the best and I do hope that he gets the help that he needs. But that’s the only thing I will be saying about it publicly,” she added.
Cavallari’s remarks come less than a week after Cutler was arrested Oct. 17 following a minor traffic accident in downtown Franklin, Tennessee, according to the Franklin Police Department.
The former football pro, 41, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while under the influence, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision and implied consent, according to a news release.
Cutler allegedly smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes, according to the police department’s affidavit. He was also swaying and slurring his words.
When officers searched Cutler’s vehicle, they allegedly found a rifle and a loaded handgun.
Cutler refused an officer’s request to perform a standardized field sobriety test, police said. He was taken into custody and a blood search warrant was obtained at a nearby medical center.
He was booked into Williamson County Jail and released on a $5,000 bond, according to police.
Cutler played for the NFL for 12 seasons, most of which he spent with the Chicago Bears.
He and Cavallari got engaged in 2011 after less than a year of dating. They were married in 2013 following the birth of their first child, son Camden, now 12.
The former couple, who co-starred in the reality series “Very Cavallari,” went on to welcome two more children, son Jaxon, 10, and daughter Saylor, 8, before splitting in 2020.
