‘Love Is Blind’ stars Lauren and Cameron open up about fertility journey for the first time

“Love Is Blind” Season 1 stars Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton are opening up about their fertility journey.
The couple, who are one of the most beloved pairs in the “Love Is Blind” franchise and appeared on the show in 2020, brought up the emotional topic during an episode of their new podcast, “The Love Seat,” out Oct. 23.
“We’re talking about something that we’ve never talked about before, which is fertility and our fertility journey,” Speed-Hamilton said.
Hamilton then said, “The number one question we are always asked is, ‘When are you going to have a baby?’”
Speed-Hamilton said this topic is “not the easiest” for her.
“I like to share a lot of things but this is one that’s still kind of tough. But I think it’s so important to talk about it so that you can see yourself in the conversation that we’re about to have,” she said.
She said she feels “more connected” to her husband as they go on their fertility journey together.
“We support each other, we’re more in tune now,” she shared. “I feel like in marriage, or any type of relationship, when you go through something that’s big and heavy or weighs on your heart, it creates a bond.”
She added, “I think that it’s actually made us stronger.”
Her husband agreed and became emotional as he recalled seeing her taking medication and daily shots as part of the IVF process while they tried to conceive.
“Knowing that IVF wasn’t something that you naturally wanted to do, but you did it for me, you showed me a new level of love that I’d never seen before,” he told his wife as his voice started to break.
“Don’t you start,” she replied before sweetly adding, “Thank you, baby.”
The couple then welcomed their guests, author Shelah Marie and rapper Ace Hood, who spoke about their desire to start a family, too.
Halfway through the episode, Hamilton offered some advice, particularly to men who are watching their partners struggle with fertility.
“As men, our first instinct, it seems, is to want to fix things,” he said. “When we’ve been struggling to conceive, my first instinct is to dive into the research on fertility, IVF, try to consume everything I can (and) come up with a strategy, how are we going to improve the next time.”
While he said that can be beneficial, he added that it is more helpful to focus on being supportive and attentive.
“I think that is important,” he continued. “But even more important than that is turning toward your partner and their emotions … and be there to support. You can’t just take away the pain that they feel as much as you want (to).”
He said he struggled to find the right way to comfort his wife.
Ace Hood responded, “Sometimes you say nothing, man. You just cry.”
Speed-Hamilton and Hamilton’s vulnerable discussion in the second episode of their podcast followed their conversation last week with fellow “Love Is Blind” Season 1 stars Amber and Matt Barnett.
In the premiere episode of “The Love Seat,” the Barnetts announced that they are currently expecting their first child together.
“There’s a baby Barnett on the way!” Speed-Hamilton said as she celebrated the news. Hamilton said he was excited to become an uncle.
The Barnetts will soon join “Love Is Blind” couples Alexa and Brennon Lemieux and Bliss Poureetezadi and Zack Goytowski as the only couples from the franchise who have welcomed a child.
“Love Is Blind” couples are often asked about plans to expand their families, sometimes during appearances on season reunions.
Last year, Hamilton called out those who press couples about having a child.
“As a community, can we agree that it’s always inappropriate to ask couples when they’re going to have a baby?” he asked at the beginning of an Instagram video uploaded in April 2023. “Because you don’t know what couples are going through at the end of the day.”
He listed a variety of reasons and said that his message did not just pertain to him and his wife but to all couples.
Hamilton concluded, “So just be happy for couples and just appreciate them for who they are, and that’s it y’all.”
