One Direction singer Liam Payne dies after falling from third floor of a hotel
Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer, has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31.
The singer was found dead at the hotel on Oct. 16, medical officials confirmed in a statement to Telemundo.
Police personnel from Precinct 14B had been directed in the afternoon to the hotel by a 911 call reporting an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the statement.
Prior to news of his death, Payne had been posting Snapchat stories about his day and a photo with his girlfriend.
Payne had been in Argentina earlier this month and attended his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan’s concert. The two had snapped a selfie and shared it online.
Payne was known for being a part of the British boy band One Direction alongside Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik. The group was formed in 2010 while they competed on “The X Factor.”
When One Direction broke up, Payne continued his career as a solo artist. In 2018, he released his first EP, “First Time,” and his debut album, “LP1,” came out in 2019.
Payne was a father to a 7-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with ex Cheryl Cole.
